Joel Shewmake has been chosen as the "Best of the Best" for the year 2013 on NashvilleEar.com. Joel played on several songwriter stage events and every time Joel brought excellent songs along with a great well rehearsed performance of his original songs. Several of which have been recorded by noted stars in the Country music world. http://www.nashvilleear.com/html/best.html This annual honor is given to the songwriter we believe has shown us an outstanding quality in their approach to songwriting. Our Best of the Best is a recognition of lyrical strength and the perseverance necessary toward becoming a great songwriter. We are happy to honor this excellent songwriter with our "Best of the Best" award for the year 2013.

NashvilleEar is branching out into new territory

The NashvilleEar has started to do a few different things. I am working with 6Minor Films to build a movie about Nashville songwriters. These are songwriters who are not native to the area. Each songwriter left their homes and towns and family to move to Nashville to become a professional songwriter. Each has a story of success and getting beat down. The different conceptions on the songwriter community were unreal good. If you ever wanted to be a songwriter in Nashville this is a movie you need to see. It is titled "Road to Music City". It will be released in the spring of 2014. Another fun thing I have been doing is working with a bluegrass band. Reno & Harrell are one of the best bluegrass bands in the country. Their first CD "Reno Bound" came out at #15 on the "Bluegrass Today" charts. I am managing and booking them for bluegrass festivals in 2014. You can see their music and videos here: www.RenoandHarrell.com

This is Bex Marshall, the finest blues guitarist and singer I have ever run across. I had the pleasure of meeting her at a bonfire one evening in Nashville. She is a very nice lady and very charismatic in her personal interactions. Here is an interview with her for Elwood BluesMobile radio show. She plays a few songs and talks a bit about herself. Very interesting. Here is the interview..

The Reno & Harrell band played to a standing only crowd at the Station Inn. One of Nashville's bluegrass friendly clubs that host bluegrass greats on a regular basis. Reno & Harrell blew the doors off the stage by running old standards along with new songs that will be on their new CD being released Sept 1st. Go here to watch a video clip of the nights bluegrass sounds.

This 25 min songwriter video story was sent to me by email. Mike Purcell was asking what I thought of his songwriter project. I have posted this because he explains his songwriting process in extreme detail. Something not many people have spent the time explaining. Many of my members on the NashvilleEar.com social networking site ask me this question about how to get started and where do the lyrics actually come from. Ric talks about his feelings and how he writes his songs. Pretty darn interesting Here it is: http://youtu.be/Xedi9d1A4y0

Bill Warrington singing "Where's There A Will" at the Fontanel

"Where's There A Will There's A Relative"
Excellently written song by Bill Warrington and Gerald Smith.

I met Bill Warrington at the Fontanel while we were running the NashvilleEar.com Songwriter Stage.
Bill was a really nice gentleman and is one of Nashville's veteran songwriters. Bill wrote this song with co-writer Gerald Smith.
It just so happens that it is true when a relative dies everyone shows up to see whats left. It ain't right but it is true. This song is one of the funny songs that tell a good story and has a good ending. You will like this one.

Here is one of the best guitar players who have ever graced the Songwriter Stage. Buck Brown is as good a songwriter as he is a guitar player. His professional delivery of "Devil's Dance" is a fantastic rendition of a guitar classic along with telling a killer story. All this played with a great passion that Buck seems to infuse into every song. Enjoy a great song with some great guitar licks. http://youtu.be/eJr39otolPk

A couple of weeks ago was Jeremy Deans birthday bash at the Pavilion Coffee House. Several people got up and did a few songs. Becca Cummins from Alabama made the trip and did a few songs with Jeremy. Towards the end of the evening Lisa Fuller got up and blew the room away with her acapella version of "Crazy" written by Willie Nelson and performed by the famous Patsy Cline. Bost Harley Davidson is closing its doors today. As a tribute to Mike and Bobbie Bost I have put together a few pictures from the NashvilleEar.com Songwriter Stage taken at Bost Harley Davidson over the past few years. Bost was nice enough to let me host my songwriter stage at their venue from Oct 2010 to Oct 2012. Their support of Nashville songwriters has been impressive. They opened their doors and hearts to hundreds of songwriters over the past few years. They bought doughnuts and coffee for each show. A special thanks to Jeremy Dean for helping me get this whole thing off the ground. The Nashville Ear will continue to support songwriters with videos of their original songs in the future. Thanks Bost Harley Davidson you will be missed. http://youtu.be/vJWo1CHvuBs
