You will love this group as much as I when you give them a few minutes and listen to their live video performance of "Country Road". Below is a link to their youtube channel ..Well worth the time!
They will be playing live at our Nashville Ear Songwriter Stage next month.

Doctor Mark Elliott and his Quirky Songs

Every now and then I get some really quirky songs that you just have to listen to even though the lyrics are not the best and the music is not the best.
It is like watching a car on fire on the interstate. You cannot help but to watch and pay attention. Marks songs are like that ... they make you think... 95% of you will not like these but that 5% will love them.
Give it a listen and see which group you find yourself in... I am in the 5% :)

"This Old Man" is a new song by the "Best of the Best" on Nashville Ear.com

Larry Evans has done it again with a new song on the Nashville Ear.

Larry is the "Best of the Best" for 2010 on the Nashville Ear and proves why with a new song. Larry has a lyric turn of phrase that is what most songwriters wish they could duplicate.

"This Old Man" is a song that will again show why I have picked Larry as the best songwriter I have found this year.

New song on the Nashville Ear called Scarred Hands

I received a very touching song and story last week that I want to share with you.
Dear Sir,
I have a song that I wrote called Scarred Hands.
It is a true story about my mother who saved my sister from a fire when she was a new born
Her hands became scarred when she saved my sister
My mother was so ashame of her hands she always wore gloves to cover them so people wouldn't make fun of her..
When my sister was older and she told my mother about another person named Jesus who had Scarred Hands she never wore the gloves again.
Our pastor of our church has a studio which he makes mp3s to help support the church.
Three of the girls in the choir sang the song and the church band played the music for the song.It is a modern day country Gospel Song. Can you listen to this song and tell me if the song is worthy for your company.
This is my first song I have ever written.Everybody tells me this song has a lot of heart and can touch a lot of people.
Here is the mp3 of Scarred Hands.

How do I get my songs heard?

One of the most common questions new songwriters ask is “How do I get my songs heard?” We all sort of wish there were a step-by-step process for every aspect of the music industry so that we could see Point A to Point B and gain a structured knowledge for future reference, but in reality there is only one concrete directive the successful writers have adhered to…hard work.

It’s cliché and broad, but that attribute IS what keeps successful songwriters moving forward – never quitting, never swaying whichever way the wind blows, just pushing out consistently well-written lyrics and utilizing social skills with constant networking, and a lot of late-night gigs.

New song on Nashville Ear "Thats the Way Love Is"

Willie Nelson pay attention to this song, It was written for you

Larry Evans has written a song especially for Willie Nelson.

Everyone knows Willie plays an old guitar that he has had forever. Where the pick guard should be there is a worn hole from years of playing. This song says all the words and feelings that would explain why you would keep an old guitar like that. Just like an old friend , Willies old guitar is part of him and his craft.

Larry even gave the old guitar that he wrote "This Old Guitar" on to Willie's harp player to give to willie with a copy of the song tucked under the strings and the lyrics written on the back of the guitar and that was the third time he has tried to get the song in Willies hands.

"This Old Guitar" is the best song, in my opinion, that Larry has ever written.

Willie, if you hear about this blog or the Nashville Ear.com songs Play attention to this song.

New song on the Best of the Best of Nashville Ear

Good Job again Larry, this is why you are one of the Best of the Best on the Nashville Ear.

Go give it a listen, you will like it.

Mitch Emmons plays at the Nashville Palace

Last night at the Nashville Palace in Nashville Tennessee Mitch Emmons took the stage. It was a warm breezy night when the show at the Nashville Palace was about to begin. There were about 8 small groups of songwriters all talking quietly, a bit of stage nerves was apparent with some of the songwriters and determined faces on others were standing around mainly the rear of the large club.

The show opened with James Breedwell playing several well written original songs. Mitch came next and played three of his original songs that he has written over the past few years. Mitch was great, he sounded really good with his new Tyler guitar given to him by his lady Gloria. Mitch played and sang just like the old experienced player he is. The audio in this club is really good and clear. Talent like Mitch is rarely seen in the normal songwriters nights. Mitch got a good round of applause and was asked to play more later in the night. There were many songwritrs waiting in the wings to play. A great time was had by all.

Timothy Flint added to the Nashville Ear today.

I play my guitar like some people smoke cigarettes. I am compulsivly reaching for it. Music is, and has always been my constant companion. I thank god for this gift. When I write I never start with an idea. I just find a melody I like and I let it tell me what it should be about. I admire those people that grind out three or four songs a day. I am lucky if I get one. But I stay dedicated to the craft And most importantly, I do it because I love it.

Thank you
